Welcome to The Inspired Fox

Updated: 12 hours ago

Pull up a chair. There’s room for you here.

Where growth meets real life.

Pull up a chair.

Seriously. There’s room for you here.

You don’t have to have everything figured out. You don’t need to be at some particular point in life. You don’t need to arrive motivated, confident, healed, productive, or ready to change everything.

You can come tired.

You can come curious.

You can come because life is going pretty well and you want to make something good even better.

Or you can come because you have absolutely no idea what you’re doing next.

That’s okay.

Earth ain’t easy.

And one of the things I hope you discover here is that you’re probably not as alone as you think.

That thought you’ve been wrestling with? Someone else has probably wrestled with it too.

That mistake you made? You’re probably not the first.

That question you’re almost embarrassed to ask? Someone else has wondered the same thing.

That season of life you’re trying desperately to navigate?

Someone, somewhere, has walked a similar road.

Our stories aren't identical. Our circumstances aren't identical. And the answers that work for one person won't always work for another.

But I believe we have far more in common than we sometimes realize.

And maybe we can help each other along the way.

Why I Created The Inspired Fox

The simplest answer is this:

I wanted to give someone the help I wish I had growing up.

Support.

Guidance.

Understanding.

Someone to talk to.

Someone willing to listen.

Someone who might say, “I've been through something like that. Here's what I learned.”

I certainly don't have life figured out.

I'm still learning too.

I've made mistakes. I've believed things I later questioned. I've had to change my mind. I've had seasons when I was growing and seasons when simply getting through what was in front of me was enough.

That's part of being human.

The Inspired Fox didn't come from having all the answers.

It came from believing that the things we learn along the way become more valuable when we're willing to share them.

Maybe something I've learned can help you.

And someday, something you've learned may help someone else.

None of us has the whole path figured out.

We’re Fellow Travelers Here

I don't want to stand at the front of the room and tell you how you're supposed to live your life.

That's not what this is.

Think of me as another traveler on the same ridiculously complicated road.

Sometimes I might discover something useful and yell back:

“Hey! You might want to know about this!”

Sometimes we'll talk about habits, boundaries, relationships, communication, self-worth, discernment, creativity, food, connection, or simply getting through an ordinary Tuesday a little better.

Sometimes we'll ask uncomfortable questions.

Sometimes we'll laugh.

Sometimes the answer might be to change something.

And sometimes the answer might be:

You're human. Give yourself a minute.

Growth doesn't mean relentlessly fixing yourself.

I believe we should strive to become better—but I also believe we need to leave room for being human.

Rest matters.

Grace matters.

So does responsibility.

You Are Welcome Where You Are—But You Still Choose Where You Go

There’s an important distinction here.

Accepting yourself where you are doesn't mean believing nothing ever needs to change.

Sometimes life happens to us and we have very little say in the matter.

But there are also moments when we do have a choice.

We can blame everyone else forever, or we can ask what part belongs to us.

We can keep repeating something that isn't working, or we can try something different.

We can sit on the sidelines, or we can decide to get in the game.

Neither path guarantees an easy life.

Sometimes both choices are hard.

But which hard we choose can change where we end up.

Personal responsibility isn't about blaming yourself for everything that happens to you.

It's about recognizing where you do have power—and deciding what you're going to do with it.

One thought.

One habit.

One conversation.

One choice.

One small, honest shift at a time.

You may not control every road, but you still get to choose your next step.

You Don't Have to Agree With Me

Actually, I hope you don't automatically agree with everything you read here.

Think about it.

Question it.

Look at the evidence.

Consider your own experiences.

Listen to other perspectives.

Ask better questions.

And then decide what makes sense to you.

You don't have to listen to me.

Maybe I'm not the person you need information from on a particular subject.

That's okay.

I'm here to share what I can—my experiences, skills, observations, research, mistakes, ideas, and the things I'm still learning.

Take what helps.

Explore further.

Think for yourself.

And leave what doesn't belong to you.

That's part of growth too.

What You'll Find at The Inspired Fox

The Inspired Fox is about personal growth—but probably not the kind that asks you to spend every waking moment trying to optimize yourself.

Growth happens in real life.

It happens in your relationships.

Your habits.

Your kitchen.

Your conversations.

Your boundaries.

Your creativity.

Your mistakes.

Your quiet moments.

Your willingness to ask, “Could I handle this differently?”

And sometimes in your ability to recognize:

“Actually, I'm doing okay.”

That's why you'll find a little bit of everything here.

We'll talk about becoming more aware of yourself without tearing yourself apart.

We'll explore habits and routines that make everyday life work a little better.

We'll talk about relationships, communication, boundaries, self-respect, critical thinking, discernment, and what it means to treat other people with respect too.

We'll make things.

We'll cook things.

We'll create moments worth remembering.

We'll look for ways to take better care of ourselves so we have something left to give to the people and things that matter to us.

Because becoming better isn't only about what happens inside us.

It's also about what we put back into the world.

Growth happens in the life you’re already living.

Building a Life That Feels Like Home

You'll see this phrase around here:

Build a life that feels like home.

I don't mean building a perfect life.

I don't think one exists.

I mean building a life you're genuinely happy to live.

A life where you feel comfortable being yourself.

Where you're appreciated—and where you appreciate the people around you.

Where respect goes both ways.

Where the things you spend your time on actually matter to you.

Where you don't become so focused on what's missing that you squander what's already good.

And where, when something isn't working, you feel capable of asking:

What can I do next?

Your version won't look exactly like mine.

It shouldn't.

It's your life.

Maybe We Can Make Things a Little Better

I believe people have more in common than we think.

I also believe we have an incredible ability to help one another become better—not just for ourselves, but for the people around us and the people who come after us.

Through kindness.

Respect.

Better conversations.

Critical thinking.

Creating instead of only consuming.

Helping our neighbors.

Taking responsibility.

Listening to one another.

Raising better humans.

Taking care of ourselves so we're capable of caring about something beyond ourselves.

None of those things requires perfection.

They require choice.

And then, eventually, they require action.

We don't have to fix the entire world today.

But we can take responsibility for the little piece of it we touch.

And if enough of us do that?

I think it matters.

A Note From the Beginning

When I originally wrote Welcome to The Inspired Fox, this space was brand new.

I wrote something to my future self:

I hoped I'd come back someday and remember the moment when all of this felt a little scary, a little uncertain, and deeply important.

Well...

Here I am.

And I remember.

The Inspired Fox has grown since then.

So have I.

There are things I understand differently now. Things I've learned. Things I'm still figuring out. And plenty I haven't encountered yet.

But the reason I started hasn't changed.

I wanted to create something meaningful.

Something useful.

Something human.

A place where maybe someone could find a little of the support, guidance, understanding, or encouragement they needed for whatever part of the road they happened to be traveling.

And that's still what I'm trying to build.

Wherever You Are Right Now...

Welcome.

You don't have to prove anything before you sit down.

You don't have to pretend you're doing better than you are.

And you don't have to make yourself smaller because things happen to be going well, either.

Bring your questions.

Bring your curiosity.

Bring your mistakes.

Bring your ideas.

Bring what you've learned.

Bring what you're still trying to understand.

There is room for you here.

Maybe you'll find an answer.

Maybe you'll find a better question.

Maybe something here will help you make one small change.

Maybe you'll simply have the comforting realization that somebody else has been there too.

Whatever brought you here, I'm glad you found your way to the table.

Pull up a chair.

We'll figure out a little more of this thing called life as we go.

Together.

Welcome to The Inspired Fox.

With all my heart,

Fox
